The ‘architect of joy’ brings colour and playfulness to the 2025/2026 cover.

Yinka Ilori is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer whose bold visual language draws on his British-Nigerian heritage to convey new narratives through contemporary design.

Considered an ‘architect of joy’ - Ilori’s work is underpinned by the belief that art and design should be accessible to all. Humorous, provocative, and playful, his projects demonstrate how design can bring communities together and have a positive impact on society, evoking a sense of joy and optimism.

Created exclusively for the Walpole Book of British Luxury 2025/2026 - Walpole’s annual magazine that delves deeper into the talking points and trends driving the luxury sector forward - Ilori’s design is a reflection on his belief in the benefits of engaging with nature, which, he says, “is good for our bodies and our mental health”.

The series of abstract plants and trees within the cover artwork are growing around and protecting small objects hidden within the pattern. “I think it’s a call to action to protect our environment,” says Yinka, “but also to protect joy”.

Designed by Nous and printed by Paragon, the book is wrapped in Munken Kristall Smooth True White 400gsm. Known for its tactile uncoated surface and natural feel, Munken brings a quiet richness to print that lets the work speak for itself. It’s a premium range developed for high-quality print applications across multiple techniques.

Inside, GF Smith Max White Matt and Munken Kristall Smooth True White text pages bring balance and clarity, allowing imagery and storytelling to unfold at an unhurried pace. The result is a book that feels as considered as the world it documents.

“Our process really allows for collaboration, letting the book be guided to the benefit of creative expression. Once it’s ready for print, we work closely with Paragon, running a series of tests to elevate the design and make it truly sensory. They know everything about print, and together we find solutions that bring the beautiful GF Smith papers to life.”
