With shared heritage and values comes baggage.

Film by Steven Mark Fisher

GFSmith partner with iconic British luggage company, Globe-Trotter, to create bespoke cases in Colorplan shades.

The unique set of cases have been created by Globe-Trotter for the exclusive use of the GFSmith sales team. Designed to match the new stock Selector, the cases have been produced in Colorplan colours: Factory Yellow and Real Grey.

The partnership is an apt one: both companies share a similar heritage, inasmuch as they are independent, British and were founded in the late 19th century. A further link is that Globe-Trotter make their iconic cases from paper – fourteen bonded layers of vulcanised fibreboard to be exact. It proves, beyond doubt, that paper is robust. In fact, the cases increase in strength for a further eleven years after manufacture. The Globetrotter factory consists of a team of craftsmen and a collection of antique Victorian machinery. Consequently, the process is not rushed; it takes ten days, and a total of 98 separate processes to make just one case. It is this level commitment to craftsmanship that ties in with GFSmith's own company values.
