Cut it out of Colorplan
GFSmith supports Noma Bar's interactive 'Cut It Out' exhibition in London and Gateshead, nominated in the Designs of the Year Awards.
Striking graphic illustrations die cut from Colorplan by a two metre-high hydraulic-powered cutting machine with 20 tons of pressure, in the shape of a dog – that's the essence of Noma Bar's Cut It Out exhibition. Exploring negative space, the die cut illustrations are stunning in their own right, but enabling exhibition visitors to create their own cut-out images using the machine introduces an engaging interactive element. The touring exhibition coincided with both the London Design Festival and the North East England Design Event Festival. GFSmith are committed to supporting this kind of creative ingenuity, and if it involves turning people on to the possibilities of paper, all the better.
Cut It Out has recently been nominated for the Design Museum Designs of the Year Awards 2012, in the Graphics category. Nominated work will be on show at the Design Museum from 8th February, and the winners will be revealed at an awards event on 24th April.
